A SUCCESS!

I did it! I attempted to make some sugar cookies with Gracie the other day & they turned out great! The only thing I did different is refrigerated the dough for 15 minutes. Am I supposed to do that everytime? Who cares - it worked!!! I will try that from now on & maybe, just maybe I can be a mom who makes good cookies! Here is a picture of my success! Oh yeah & the recipe I used? It was a cookie mix that came in a little gift tin that my mom got the girls, which means I will probably never be able to find that mix again, oh well! One out of 10 other times isn't that bad is it?

AN EXPLANATION

When Gracie was a baby she was always 'put together'. As in the cutest, cleanest outfits, hair done just right (because she didn't have any), smelled good because she got a bath daily. I had the time to do all of that & cared & pretty much I was much more uptight with her! Well, those days are over.

I was looking at my girls last night thinking "they look like slobs!" Gracie's hair is unmanageable (unless it is washed - like I am going to do that a couple times a day) & she won't let me put anything in it. No gel, leave-in conditioner, nothing. I am lucky if she lets me comb it, if she does let me comb it, it is messed up again in no time! A frizzy mess. Next, she likes to dress herself & hates jeans, so that means sweatpants most of the time. And she doesn't always match. Her face is sometimes a mess & I don't always catch it!

Cassidy is crawling, therefore she is always dirty! She 'walks' around on her knees so the bottom half of her pants & socks are filthy! If they are clean, they are stained so they don't appear to be. I let her feed herself much more than I ever let Gracie (uptight, I know) & am not as picky about the 'right' bib for the right kind of food, therefore her shirts are a mess! With Gracie, as soon as her clothes were dirty I would put her in a new outfit - I DON'T HAVE TIME OR ENERGY FOR THAT! I can't afford to throw away a slightly stained shirt or pants & go by a new one, so she's stuck with them. I don't have time to bathe the girls daily anymore - I am lucky if I can do every other day. Gracie won't let me put lotion on her & Cassidy's skin is sensitive so I can't put too much smelly lotion on her - so they probably stink too!

I really hope my girls are not the 'stinky' ones in the church nursery & I am very sorry if they are! But they sure are stinkin' cute, aren't they?

I have scrapbooked 15 pages within the last few days - here are a few of them:

THE LETDOWN

Note: I realized the title could be referring to two different things - so, this is not about breastfeeding!

I have a habit of getting really excited about big events & then after they are all done with I get really down. That has happened. There was big excitement this Christmas. Amy & her family came here & we met my parents & Kristin at my parents 'getaway' house in OR. We had an awesome weekend of family time. It was such a blessing to have that time together we needed as a family!

After that, Nathan's parents came for New Years to celebrate Christmas so I had something to look forward to & kept busy getting ready for that. We had a great time with them also. The girls love their Grandparents & it is so fun to see!

But now all of the excitement is over. Nathan's parents left yesterday & Amy & her family left also. My house is a mess & I need to get Christmas put away. I have a lot to do but I woke up feeling really down. I just need to keep busy. I will clean up & I really need to go through the girls' toys & make a spot for the new ones. And Gracie is now throwing a fit so it looks like I will have plenty to do today!
